Simple Braised Boneless Short Ribs

This recipe is actually super simple and easy and doesn't require much hands on time at all. Once the short ribs are browned, you can leave the dutch oven in the oven and go do other things while the braising liquid and oven do their job.
Although this recipe was made with Boneless Short Ribs, you can also make this the same way with Bone-in Short Ribs as well!
- Cook Time:
- Servings: 6
Ingredients
- (1 tbsp.) Rendered Pork Lard
- (3 lbs) Boneless Short Ribs
- (To Taste) Salt and Pepper
- (1 Large) Onion, diced
- (4 Cloves) Garlic, minced
- (1.5 cups) Red Wine
- (2 Cups) Beef Bone Broth
- (1) Bay Leaf
- (4 Sprigs) Fresh Thyme
Directions
Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Add pork lard to dutch oven over medium heat.
Pat short ribs dry with a paper towel, season generously with salt and pepper and add to dutch oven. Brown all sides of the boneless short ribs thoroughly and remove from dutch oven.
Add onions and garlic to dutch oven and cook until translucent, scraping any bits stuck to the pan as they cook. Once onions are translucent, deglaze with red wine and broth.
Add short ribs back to the pot along with bay leaf and thyme.
Cover and put in oven. Cook for roughly 3 hours, or until meat is tender and pulls apart easily.
Serve over mashed potatoes or egg noodles with roasted veggies. Enjoy!
