Inspired by my travels to Hawaii, here is a simple recipe that is full of flavor and easy to cook. Your family will surely enjoy it!
  • Prep Time:
  • Cook Time:
  • Servings: 8

Ingredients

  • (1 cup) Water
  • (4 Tsp.) Hawaiian Sea Salt
  • (3 Tbsp.) Worcestershire Sauce
  • (1 Head) Cabbage
  • (1 Large Carrot) Carrots
  • (1/4 cup) White Vinegar
  • (2 Tbsp.) Apple Cider Vinegar
  • (1/2 tsp.) Cayenne Pepper
  • (2 Tbsp.) Mustard
  • (To Taste) Black Pepper
  • (1 Lime) Lime
  • (1/4 cup) Cilantro
  • (1 cup) Spinach
  • (1) Pork Boston Butt / Boneless Shoulder Roast

Directions

Thaw the sirloin roast and make crosscuts running diagonal across the top of the roast approximately 1" between cuts (fat side up). In a slow cooker, add the water, then the roast. Sprinkle the Hawaiian sea salt over the top and add the worcestershire sauce. Cook the roast on high heat for 6 hours. After the 6 hours is up, remove the roast and place in a broiling pan (fat side up). Broil in the oven at 350 degrees for 7 minutes. Remove from the oven and shred the pork.

For the slaw:

Cut the cabbage into small pieces. Peel the carrot and then use a grate to shred it. Place in a mixing bowl and add the white vinegar, apple cider vinegar, mustard, cayenne pepper, and black pepper. Zest and juice the lime over the top. Mix well. Add the cilantro on top for garnish and flavor.

Toast your choice of bread and add the pork, coleslaw, and spinach to make a delicious Kalua Pork Sandwich!
