This quick and easy app is sure to impress your company with its uniqueness and novelty! If you don't have an air fryer, the same process can be done in the oven on broil but be sure to keep an eye on them as they are more likely to burn this way.

Ingredients

  • (1 Package) Pork Jowl
  • (1/4 Cup) Maple Syrup - Pint
  • (1/2 Cup) 2# Honey
  • (1/4 tsp.) Black Pepper
  • (1/4 tsp.) Himalayan Salt
  • (1/4 tsp.) Chili Powder or Cayenne Pepper
  • (1 tsp.) Smoked Paprika
  • (1 Tbsp.) Organic White Vinegar
  • (1 tsp.) Organic Apple Cider Vinegar
  • (1 tsp.) Coconut Aminos
  • (1 Tbsp., minced) Garlic Cloves
  • (1 small, Diced) Red Tomato
  • (1 Tbsp., Diced) Red Onions
  • (1 tsp.) Garlic Powder
  • (1 tsp.) Onion Powder
  • (Pinch of) Black Pepper

Directions

To prep the pork jowl, you'll first want to slice it into 1/2 in. thick slices. A meat slicer works the best but you can also do it by hand with a really sharp knife.

For the marinade:

Add maple syrup, honey, 1/4 tsp. black pepper, salt, cayenne/chili powder, and paprika to a gallon plastic bag and let the sliced jowl strips marinate for 2 hours in the fridge.

Once ready to cook, let excess marinade drip off and lay the strips in the air fryer basket.

Preheat your air fryer to 350 degrees and once it is ready, cook for 10 mins, flipping the strips half way through. They should get nice and brown with crispy edges.

Serve with the dipping sauce over rice or by themselves as an appetizer.

For the dipping sauce:

Mix the white vinegar, ACV, coco aminos, garlic cloves, tomato, onion, garlic powder, onion powder, and pinch of black pepper in a small bowl.

Drizzle on top of jowl slices or serve on the side as a dipping sauce.
