100% Grass Fed & Finished

With the exception of milk from their mom when they're first born, our beef and lamb are fed grass and only grass. Well, it's actually not just grass, it's diverse pasture and high density cover crops. They eat fresh pasture as much as the weather allows. In the colder months, we also supplement with hay (AKA dry pasture).

Added Hormone Free

In the conventional farming world, hormones are often given to animals to make them grow quickly, with less feed needed. At Nourished By Nature, we like to let nature run its course. That means letting animals grow at an appropriate pace. We never give hormones to our animals. The only hormones in our meats would be ones that are produced naturally within each animal.

Antibiotic Free

The animals that enter our meat program receive zero antibiotics. When animals are raised outdoors with a species appropriate diet, there's little worry of sickness and antibiotics are rarely needed. That said, animal welfare is very important to us. If there is ever an animal that needs antibiotic intervention, they are treated and flagged to ensure they don't enter our meat program. We have a strict zero tolerance policy for animal suffering.

MSG Free

We try to do things as naturally as possible, and that includes our choice of salt. No lab produced salts like MSG for us. We stick with all natural sea salt.

Pasture Raised

Our beautiful pastures are home for our animals. They are strategically grazed, and that means that we let each pasture rest for an appropriate amount of time before being grazed again. This not only regenerates the soil but also makes our pastures ideal food. Our pasture raised animals are outdoors 100% of the time (or as much as the weather allows). Yup, our beef cattle are out there in winter, nosing through the snow to reach the grass.

Supplemented with Non-GMO Grains

These animals forage on pasture, but we also give them feed for an ideal diet and therefore optimal health. We grow our own grain for our animals. We choose a non-GMO variety, which is grown in our regeneratively managed soil. It's a far step away from the glyphosate-ridden, GMO crops that's all too common in the US. And, if we need to buy in grain, we make sure that's GMO free, too!

Artificial Nitrite Free

We put so much effort into naturally maintaining our soil and raising our animals. So, why would we include a crazy, synthetic, known carcinogen at the very end? Our meat products don't have any synthetic nitrates or nitrites added. Instead, our smoked products are made with celery juice powder, which is minimally processed and contains natural forms of nitrates and nitrites.

Sugar Free

In many products, sugar is added for flavor or a preservative. But, these products are made with no sugar at all, even the natural ones like maple syrup and honey.

Unaged (Low Histamine)

Our pork, lamb, chicken, and some of our beef cuts are slaughtered, butchered, and frozen within 48 hours! That means they contain the least amount of histamines possible in meat. It also makes for a fresher taste and higher moisture content in the meat.

Wet Aged 3-5 Weeks

When our beef is processed, the parts (AKA primals) are vacuum sealed and let to age for 3-5 weeks in the cooler. This helps develop tenderness and flavor naturally. Then, it's butchered into cuts and frozen. Compared to dry aged beef, wet aged meat has a bolder flavor, softer texture, and lower histamine levels.

Your safety is our priority, and we try to minimize toxins as much as we can. That's why we make sure our meat is vacuum sealed in BPA-free plastic.

Vaccine Free

Our beef, pork, lamb, and chicken all receive zero vaccines their entire life. When raised naturally, with plenty of exercise and a stellar diet, there's little worry of disease in animals. Vaccines simply aren't needed.

Chlorine Free

Did you know that a majority of chicken and turkey processed in the US is bathed in chlorine? Yuck! Not our birds. Our chicken and turkey goes in a water bath with vinegar and hydrogen peroxide. This is a more natural way to produce the most nutrient-dense, safest poultry for you.
